WhatsApp has become an essential part of our communication, but do you know there’s a hidden feature that you can use to customize the look of your chats? With just one click, you can change the colour of your chats and customize them in any way you want! This trick will let you quickly and easily change the colour of your WhatsApp chat texts, names and even emoji! It’s incredibly simple, so here’s how to do it
How to Modify Chats
Although most people
probably don’t use it, WhatsApp has a great hidden feature that can modify your
chat with a person. All you have to do is type in *colour and then follow it up
with your favourite colour. After that, you can start sending messages to that
person using that coloured font. What’s even better is if you change your mind
about what colour to use for that conversation just type in *default to go back
to normal mode. You can also set certain contacts to always appear in a
specific colour as well by adding their name at the end of your command (i.e.,
*.josh). For example, I always want my conversations with Josh to be blue so I
would add his name after typing *.josh*blue. It’s pretty easy but something
that most people wouldn’t think about doing on their own until they read an
article like this one!
There are more than 500 million active users on WhatsApp today and many will likely find value in knowing how to customize their chats however they see fit!
Blue Text = Group, Green Text = Unread, Red Text = Starred
Did you know that with
just a few taps, you can change how your chats appear on your mobile phone?
Just open WhatsApp and go to Settings > Chats. From there, you can change
whether green or blue text indicates group messages, and red or green shows
when contacts have read your messages. If it seems like a silly feature to
tinker with—and it is—just think about it for a second: A little colour makes
reading messages easier and faster, right? Which colour would make it easiest
for you to tell at a glance whether something requires an immediate response?
Might be worth experimenting with. After all, small changes can often lead to
big results!
Setting aside colour preferences,
here are some reasons why you might want to change colour s in WhatsApp. Some
people may prefer one colour over another simply because they’re more visually
appealing than others. For example, blue tones are widely believed to
contribute positively toward productivity and overall feelings of well-being,
while those who dislike orange are likely experiencing synaesthesia (or some
similar phenomenon). Of course, if only one friend ever sends you green texts
(do friends do that?), then having green as your most-used chat tone could
prove distracting after a while!
Green Text = Read - Third Paragraph: Changing colour s could also help certain types of users learn new skills based on their previous choices.
For Telegram (Android only)
If you have an Android phone, you can change your chats' colour in Telegram by adding a hashtag (#) before each contact's name. So if you have a friend named John and his username is JohnSmith, write #JohnSmith to make all messages from him appear in blue text on your phone. Adding more hashtags to a username will colour -code messages from that person even further. If someone has three colour ed usernames (for example #John#Smith#Laptop), they'll appear on your list with all three colour s separating their names. To remove a colour code, simply add two hashtags to a username (##Username). Note: This only works for one chat at a time. To apply it to another chat, delete all previous codes first.
For Facebook Messenger (Android Only)
Changing a chat's colour is a simple trick for WhatsApp. I'll show you how to do it, but first I'll tell you why. Most people use Facebook Messenger because its interface is cleaner and simpler than WhatsApp's by far. But still it doesn't have too many options as compared to other messaging apps out there. You can change your status or your profile picture, for example, but when it comes to changing chats' colour s, you can only choose from blue, yellow and green. Even though that makes sense (green means new messages and blue means you've read them), other messengers let you customize that in some way. For example, Telegram lets you set custom colour s for every contact. So does Viber and so does Google Hangouts on Android? This gives you more freedom and control over your conversations without having to go through hoops just to achieve that. Now back to WhatsApp: The good news is that there's an easy way to make your chats different from each other without rooting your phone or installing any third-party app: All you need is a smartphone running Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich or higher.
If you have no idea where to find any of these features
Welcome to a new world where I'll show you that it's not only how your phone looks or what it does, but what features you can use that makes all of these functions possible. Because honestly, who wants to spend time figuring out how to change something as simple as your chat messages? Now you'll never have to wonder how I do that again. Why would you need this feature?
Many WhatsApp users have been annoyed with a colour -coded system that labels messages as either green, yellow or red. The idea behind these labels is to inform you of what kind of message you’re reading – whether it’s from your significant other, an important family member or a business partner, for example. Still, it doesn’t seem like an entirely fool proof system for many users and there are times when you may wish to change them. Unfortunately, there isn’t any way to do so on your phone; however, there is still a simple trick that will help you change them! All you need to do is follow these steps: 1) Open WhatsApp 2) Tap on Settings 3) Choose Account 4) Select Privacy 5) Look for Status colour s 6) Select Customize status colour s 7) Type in whatever colour code you want 8) Click Save 9) Restart your app 10) Enjoy your new status colour s! It really is that easy. While some people find different colour ed statuses useful, others find them annoying because they cannot differentiate between statuses quickly enough. This handy little trick allows you to adjust your settings according to your own preferences without having to download third party apps or doing anything too complicated on your end.
How does it make sense?
To many, hiding certain
types of messages behind a particular colour is counterintuitive. After all,
how can something be secret if it’s right there in front of you? In our
so-called information age, why hide important stuff—and who would bother? The
answer to both is that people want to control their digital life and manage
information overload. They want their inboxes less chaotic and more manageable;
as a result, they pay attention only to certain types of information. For
example, emails from work colleagues get read immediately because those are
crucial for productivity. A friend's email might sit in your inbox for days
before you have time to open it. By using specific colour s to organize your
communication, rather than just having everything jumbled together, you can
make sure that everyone gets what they need when they need it most. And by
keeping unimportant emails out of sight and out of mind, you reduce stress
levels by minimizing distractions.
